Cleopatra, Rudolph Valentino as 'The Sheik', and an Indian Maharajah are having drinks on the terrace.
Admiring the view from the balcony ....
while a maid stands outside the main door below ....
These ladies and gentlemen would need to bend their heads to pass through the doors, especially with their elaborate turbans. I hope they can stand up inside! However, I thought the bright colours of their costumes would go well with the decoration of Odessa's house.
Cleopatra and her companions are Rexard dolls; the others are souvenir dolls from Turkey (the couple) and Egypt (the woman in the green dress).
I will see how they like the inside of the house - perhaps they are just staying here briefly while they shoot some scenes from a film ... or perhaps they will make a longer stay here.
Hello Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteThose are wonderful dolls. i love the clothing.
Hugs,
Giac
Hi Giac, Thank you! I love it too, the colours, the fabrics and the designs!
DeleteHello from Spain: beautiful dolls house Odessa. I had not seen before. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteHola Marta, thanks for visiting! You can see more of this dolls house in my post in Fabruary: http://rebeccascollections.blogspot.com.au/2013/02/odessas-house.html I think it was probably made by hand, but unfortunately I do not know much about it. I have named it after the last little girl who played with it, but she was not the first owner.
DeleteOh they are so exotic! I love how the Cleopatra doll looks like Elizabeth Taylor. What goes on there??? Tal;es to tell. CM
ReplyDeleteThey're wonderful, aren't they? I think it could well be that Cleopatra was modelled on Elizabeth Taylor, but as to what she's doing with Rudolph Valentino - we'll have to wait and find out!
DeleteThe dolls are great. Just how many dollhouses do you have? I often look at eBay and Gumtree and wonder if you have spotted the houses I have seen. I get excited thinking you might find them and get them. (I'm limited to 2 houses at my house :( )
ReplyDeleteOh dear! Lots - too many - I'm not sure! I have started creating pages showing my dolls houses, starting with a page of my Australian dolls houses. I'm working on pages for my English houses, and houses from other countries - and I keep finding dolls houses I've forgotten!!! I need to take a few more photos to add to those pages before I show them.
DeleteI do watch ebay regularly, and I'm sure I'll see more houses I really want to have - though where I would put them, I don't know! I haven't watched Gumtree as regularly, but I am now - more for saving photos of the interesting houses, as usually they want you to collect, and I'm a long way from most of them :-(
You could always go to 1/144th scale to fit another house in, surely? ;-)
I love the balcony shot. They definitely suit the house.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sharee, I'm glad you think so! They will just have to get used to bending their heads ;-)
DeleteGenial!
ReplyDelete¡Muchas gracias, Luijuas!
DeleteLove the dolls on the balcony, have two Rexard dolls in my collection.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ann. I'm sorry to take so long to reply - I look forward to seeing more of your collection, especially the Rexard dolls. I love the Indian group you show on your blog - the baby is very cute :-)
DeleteExotic dollies for an exotic house! and I love the story line you are developing....
ReplyDeleteDear Florine, Thanks for visiting! The dolls are left to their own devices for quite long periods, so I will be very interested to see what they get up to!!
