Bill and Ben Platter

My newest piece of Alfred Meakin arrived on Friday - not my most recent purchase, as this one came all the way from the UK by seamail and took three months!



The name Bill and Ben is no doubt from the TV series of the time - though there are no men pictured on any of the pieces I've seen, just the flowerpots. It's one of my favourite designs - some nostalgia from childhood. We had mugs in this design, and in 'Nice'. Mum said she went and bought the cheapest and brightest mugs she could find, in the early 60s. Only one has survived - I've got a photo somewhere.
